nightstop in a nutshellWho's it for?"Nightstoppers" are young people over sixteen who are temporarily homeless. What happens?Volunteers welcome the Nightstoppers into their homes for a maximum of three nights. Is it safe?Appropriate standards of safety and privacy are in place, and all hosts have up-to-date full CRB (criminal records) checks. Guests and hosts are carefully matched, and the young Nightstopper is driven to the host family by a selected and trained driver. Everyone involved is prepared in advance for the situation. What's the point? The overnight break gives the proper authorities time to deal appropriately with the emergency situation. The outcome might be hostel accommodation, fostering, or a return to the Nightstopper’s own home after a cooling-off period. Nightstop is a registered charity. |
